Here is a description from Jevin about how he approached his interpretation:
“I approached the score thinking about texture and imagined the journey of a *thing* through the vessel. I envisioned something that transforms but maintains its essence during its journey into and out of the vessel. The "thing" also collects essences from other things that have travelled through the vessel before it.
Around the same time I received the score, I was reading about quantum theory and so I had the ideas of wave-particle duality and the two slit experiment at the top of my mind. It was definitely a thrill to see the score include particles at the entry and exit and the vessel comprised of slits.
I kept the same patch up and explored it over the course of a few weeks. I worked my way up to performing the score from start to finish, with the primary variable being whatever I improvised on viola into the patch. Each run through, I discovered a new texture or gesture that I liked that I would incorporate into the next performance up until the final recording that you are now hearing.”
